Kids in the Kitchen
The cooking group provides children with the opportunity to engage in planning and preparing fun easy to cook meals within a safe and supportive environment that allows them to further grow their interest in cooking and be confident in the kitchen. The program culminates in a morning tea or lunch prepared by participants for families.Getting children involved in the kitchen is a great way to not only encourage them to eat healthily but also allows them to practice skills that are transferable in other areas of their lives. These can include problem-solving, planning, organisation, socialising with others and multiple fine motor skills. With support from Occupational and Speech therapists, children can practice and apply these skills in the kitchen and, above all, discover that cooking is fun!
Our objectives include:
To increase socialisation and engagement with others in the group
To practice and develop skills of fine motor, sequencing, organisation and planning. while cooking
