Speed Cubing

R U R’ U’, Edge, Face, Pop, Algorithm, TPS (turns per second). What do all these terms have in common? Speedcubing. That colourful cube toy from the 80s is making a comeback. Partly inspired by the Netflix short documentary, ‘The Speed Cubers’, and local speedcubing competitions. You may remember having had one lying around the house unsolved. Perhaps you attempted to pull the stickers off in an attempt to ‘solve’ it!

You may be surprised to know that speed cubing offers many physical, mental, and social benefits. Here are just a few:

Grab a cube and start solving! A simple Google search will lead you to loads of YouTube tutorial videos and instructional websites. If you are interested in getting involved in the world of speed cubing, see World Cube Association and Speed Cubing

If the cube is not your thing, try other problem-solving games and toys. This might include crossword puzzles, sudoku, chess, and brain teasers. AND should you ever get bored with the 3×3 cube, there are up to 10 other variations to master!
